A fast-swimming, curious fighter
The last week of April starts garfish season issue, then it is to come out with a float or spinner. Plug with herring on the hook is relaxing, spin fishing is more aggressive fishing.
Aside from the sun, garfish actually quite indifferent to the weather afloat. All of May and some of June are garfish time in the fjords – the rest of the summer, they are caught in the Kattegat, Skagerrak and Vesterhavet (North Sea).

The garfish is a pelagic schooling fish that lives in salt water. The skeleton is green because of the content of iron, which is harmless.
The garfish can grow up to 120 cm and weigh up to 2 kg. A big garfish measuring over 80 cm.

The garfish is an eating fish and sport fish can be caught at sea fishing, inshore and bay fishing.
I put a half a large floats just under 1 m up on the main line that ends with a swivel with hook. Here I put a weight, which of course is not heavier than the float can wear it. I tie a small treble hook (size 10) of a button 1 m long 0.25-0.30 nylon line as the final line (see drawing and description of lodforfang ). A small piece of herring ½-1 cm wide attached to two of the treble hook hooks. Do not let the float just lying around with currents / wind but features little in once in a while.
Especially when the sun is high in the sky and bake, it's a really good of pleasant method of fishing - but watch out for sunburn!
Spin fishing for garfish can be used both sleek lures and spoon lures. I use slim 22-28 g sandeel lures, as I take the hooks off. Then I tie small treble hooks on 5-8cm long branch lines that plugs into the ends of sandeel lure. Fast retraction and small short jerk the rod lures the garfish for squatting. By garfish fishing should also experiment – try different colors and different tempos.
